Meet Akshi Arora, Founder of Lagi
Akshi Arora, a young mother from Delhi, found herself unable to fulfill her motherly duties working a traditional job. Wanting to make the most of her time and energy, she began exploring outlets for entrepreneurship: doing work on her terms.
Supportive, her husband encouraged her to pursue an online business, as his parents, her in laws, had success in wholesale women’s ethnic wear.
About Lagi
Akshi decided to give it a try, launching a portfolio of products. Initially, sales were slow. However, she realized seasonally she was selling many products. During the beginning stages of her e-commerce business, she worked mostly alone, packing products herself - often late at night and early into the mornings. As she gradually began seeing spikes in demand, she decided to explore additional e-commerce marketplaces.
As her product continued receiving rave reviews, her storefront and product offering organically began ranking in search results, leading to additional sales. Moreover, she realised her products were receiving fantastic reviews and buyers really enjoyed her product.
The ability to expand globally empowered her to fulfill orders from all over the world and not just India.
“The best thing is that my money is safe. I can regularly check the number of sales I make and know exactly what kind of profit to expect. Simply put, I am just able to do an incredible amount of work. Much more than I could have ever imagined. I started as a young, stay-at-home mother, managing household chores, a family and the store, and now I’m earning more than I ever thought possible.”
Akshi’s success led her to create her own brand of women ethnic wear, called Lagi.
Founded in 2016, Lagi is an Indian women’s fashion and ethnic wear brand that embodies contemporary sensibility at affordable rates. The brand offers kurta sets, Kurtis, dupatta sets and bottom wear without compromising product quality. The company sources its fabric from Liva, Aditya Birla Group to meet India’s stitching standards.
